SKAR, James M. (April 8, 1941 - November 3, 2009) James M. Skar, age 68, of Birchwood, WI, died Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at the Hayward Area Memorial Hospital in Hayward, WI. He was born on April 8, 1941 in Ashland, WI to Thorvald and Viola (Howard) Skar. Jim graduated from the Birchwood High School in 1959 and then attended college at UW - Superior and UW - Eau Claire. He entered the United States National Guards for 5 years. Jim was in commercial construction for many years. He joined and was a member of local #1074 carpenters union from 1972 until the present time. Jim was married to Beverly Anderson on November 1, 1975 in Milwaukee, WI. He owned and operated Skar Oil from 1986 until the present time and he also drove school bus for the Birchwood School district from 1986 until the present time. He was a 32nd degree Mason in Hayward and Eau Claire, WI and a hunter safety instructor. He loved to go hunting, fishing, being outdoors and going for coffee. He also loved being with his family, and he was an excellent father and role model. James Skar is survived by his wife, Beverly Skar of Birchwood, WI; 2 sons, Jamie Skar of Edgewater, WI and Richard Pax of Birchwood, WI; a granddaughter and her father, Josie & Rusty Myers of Birchwood, WI; a brother-in-law, Jim Gronberg of Birchwood, WI; a brother and a sister; and his favorite mother-in-law, Lois Anderson of Spring Valley, WI. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelley Pax on November 13, 1998; his parents, Thorvald and Viola Skar and 2 sisters, Susan Skar Wampole and Tula Skar Gronberg; and his father-in-law, Stanley Anderson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Birchwood, WI, Rev. Paul Oman officiating, with interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Birchwood. Friends may call from 1 - 4 PM Sunday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for 1 hour prior to the funeral at the Church.
