SWEENEY, Clyde W.
(June 18, 1927 - December 17, 2009)
Clyde W. Sweeney, age 82, of Birchwood, WI died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at his home.

Clyde was born June 18, 1927 to William and Vema (Brownell) Sweeney at Eau Claire, WI. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II entering in 1944 and serving most of his time on the Aircraft Carrier “U.S.S. Hornet”. On August 30, 1952 he was married to Esther Sarinske in Eau Claire, WI. Clyde was a Civil Engineer and Surveyor for many years and once owned his own surveying company.

Clyde enjoyed life to the fullest. He favored playing, watching and umpiring softball. Socializing was his best activity.

Clyde Sweeney is survived by his wife, Esther Sweeney of Birchwood, WI; 3 sons, Sterling Sweeney of Birchwood, WI, Kevin Sweeney of Lakeville, MN and Jesse Sweeney of Birchwood, WI; 2 daughters, LaRae Sweeney of Birchwood, WI and Gayle Ostermann of Menomonie, WI; 4 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter; and a sister, Donna Devoe of Sarona, WI.

Memorial Services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Birchwood, WI, with Military Rites accorded by the Birchwood American Legion Post with visitation starting at 10:30 AM and Services at 12:00 PM.
