MARTIN, Mabel E. Kahl (July 5, 1907 - January 16, 2010) Mabel Kahl Martin, age 102, of Rice Lake, WI, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Heritage Manor in Rice Lake. She was born on July 5, 1907 in the township of Hay River, WI to Knut and Sarah (Tuveng) Bergum. Mabel taught school in Dunn County for 8 years and then worked for Herberger’s Department Store in Rice Lake for over 19 years. She was married to Stanley Kahl on September 22, 1934 and he preceded her in death in 1977. She later married Floyd Martin on May 6, 1990. He preceded her in death in 2001. Mabel Martin is survived by a step daughter, Patty (Arden) Eggleston of Ridgeland, WI; 4 step granddaughters; 2 special nephews that Mabel and Stanley raised, Gene and Charles Baraboo; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Stanley Kahl and Floyd Martin; her parents, Knut and Sarah Bergum; 2 sisters, Stella and Minnie and 3 brothers, Sever, Martin and Ted. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 22, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Rev. Jeff Elmquist officiating, with interment in the Vanceburg Cemetery in Sheridan Township.
