Leonard “Tubby” Haynie, age 86, of Birchwood, WI died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the Rice Lake Convalescent Center.
Leonard was born to Leonard and Lila (Watts) Haynie on January 30, 1924 in Birchwood, WI. He attended schools in Birchwood and after graduating from High School he served in the United States Army during World War II. After receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to Birchwood where he owned and operated the Standard Service Station as well as drove school bus. He was a member of the Birchwood Lions as well as the American Legion Post #379 of Birchwood. Leonard was married to Ardith Jean Nelson at Birchwood. She preceded him in death in 1968.
Tubby Haynie is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Haynie of Menomonie, WI, Scott & Laurie Haynie of Clovis, NM and Bradley & Sylvia Haynie of Sumter, SC; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Richard Sharp of Crossville, TN, Sharon Overman of Rigby, ID and Pam & Ed Langham of Clayton, WI; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Paul Haynie of Maryland, Merlin Haynie of Florida and Bill Haynie of Texas.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, March 12, 2010 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, with interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Birchwood, WI where Military Rites will be accorded by the Birchwood American Legion Post. Friends may call from 12 noon - 1 PM Friday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals. There will be a gathering of friends following the interment at the Birchwood American Legion Post #379.
