Marcella Hanson, age 93, of Rice Lake, WI, formerly of Grantsburg, WI, died Friday, March 19, 2010 at Thomas Landing in Rice Lake.
She was born on March 8, 1917 in Lake City, MN to Louis and Rose (Carston) Baker. Marcella Baker was married to Burnell Hanson on October 25, 1939 in Cushing, WI. They moved to Grantsburg in 1952 and moved to Rice Lake in June of 1999. Marcella worked as an LPN Nurse at the Grantsburg Hospital and the Grantsburg Clinic for many years. Marcella loved crocheting and knitting making many afghans and scarves. She was also a down hill skier. Marcella was a member of the Womens Club, was on the Hospital Board in Grantsburg and volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary.
Marcella Hanson is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Burnell Jr. & Paulette Hanson of Rice Lake, WI and Craig & Carla Hanson of Olympia, WA; 4 grandchildren, Heather Bonneville, Bjorn Hanson, Andrea Hanson and Trevin Ziegler; 3 great-grandsons, Jacob & Luke Bonneville and Per Hanson; a brother, Guy “Toby” Baker of Webster, WI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burnell Hanson Sr. in April 2006; her parents, Louis and Rose Baker; 3 sisters, Lucille, Evelyn and Dorothy and 3 brothers, Bill, Louis and Bud.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Rice Lake, WI, Rev. Curtis Denney officiating, with interment in the Cushing Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM Thursday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI and for 1 hour prior to the funeral at the Church.
