LaVerne J. Stephan, age 75, of Rice Lake, WI, died Friday, April 16, 2010 at her home.
She was born in the Township of Dovre on December 13, 1934 to Francis and Irene (Holmstrom) Slayton. LaVerne was married to Harold Stephan on June 15, 1956 in Center City, MN. LaVerne worked at Jerome’s for over 37 years and was a supervisor for over 10 years. She enjoyed making quilts in her free time.
LaVerne Stephan is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Georgia & Robert Crotteau of Cameron, WI and Penny Stephan (Larry Eastman) of Barron, WI; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas & Becky Holmstrom of Eau Claire, WI and Harold Jr & Karen Stephan of Rice Lake, WI; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Holmstrom of Rice Lake, WI; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Emily Paulson of Cameron, WI and Jean & Harold Robarge of Waukesha, WI; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert & Marge Slayton of Mahtomedi, MN and Charles & Janice Slayton of Rice Lake, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Stephan Sr.; a son, Delbert Holmstrom; parents, Francis and Irene Slayton; 2 sisters, Josephine Crotteau and Lucille Huston; and 2 brothers, Francis and Leroy Slayton.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, with burial in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Friends may call from 4 - 8 PM Tuesday and 10 - 11 AM Wednesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
