Ruth Stanley, age 94, of Rice Lake, WI, died Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Heritage Manor in Rice Lake.
She was born on May 28, 1915 in Waseca County, MN to David and Nelia (Guddal) Hodgkins. After graduating from High School she graduated from the University of MN School of Nursing. She worked in St. Paul as a nurse and then entered the United States Navy and served during World War II as a Registered Nurse and was Honorably Discharged and then served for 4 years inactive duty. Ruth then attended the University of MN School of Public Health. She then was married to Dr. David Stanley on June 8, 1950 in Minneapolis, MN. They moved to Rice Lake in 1952 where he owned his Veterinary Practice for many years.
Ruth Stanley is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Robert & Barbara Stanley of Madison, WI, Dr. David L. Stanley of Rice Lake, WI and Mark & Kelly Stanley of Eau Claire, WI; 8 grandchildren, Carolyn, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Mark, Daniel, Cameron, Samuel and Lydia; a sister, Dorothy Gigeay of MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. David Stanley and a daughter-in-law, Linda Stanley.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, May 16, 2010 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Rice Lake, with Rev. Russ Sorensen and Rev. Philip Mueller officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Memorial Service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI.
Memorials appreciated to the Barron County Humane Society and the Bethany Lutheran Church.
