SAUNDERS, Robert L. (January 22, 1937 - June 23, 2010) Robert L. Saunders, age 73, of Mikana, WI died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his home. He was born on January 22, 1937 in Janesville, WI to Andrew and Edna (Little) Saunders. Bob graduated from the Beloit High School in 1956. He worked part-time at the Beloit Movie Theatres during High School and after his time in the Service. He was married to Barbara Streeter on November 3, 1956 in Beloit. Bob entered the United States Marine Corps serving from 1956 - 1958. Bob later worked at the Chevrolet Plant in Janesville for many years. He then became a machinist for Warner Electric Brake & Clutch Company in Rockton, IL for 10 years. Bob and Barbara owned and operated the Red Cedar Lake Resort from 1976 - 1986. He also worked for Birchwood Lumber & Veneer in Birchwood, WI for several years and became President of the Local Union. Bob worked for Wright Products in Rice Lake, WI for several years. He loved to do woodworking, fishing and loved to play on his CB. Bob Saunders is survived by his wife, Barbara Saunders of Mikana, WI; a son and daughter-in-law, David & Lisa Saunders of Brill, WI; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Deb & Daryl Janisch of Mikana, WI and Cindy Womack of Almena, WI; 11 grandchildren, Renee (Scott), John (Tiffany), Melissa (Ralph), Stacy (Evan), Bobby, Jason (Ashley), Josh (Kadi), Austin, Amanda, Mat and Josh; 11 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Marissa, Keven, Lucas, Collin, Bryce, Britta, Kayleen, Aden, Kinsey and Cora; a brother and sister-in-law, Don & Karen Saunders of Beloit, WI; many nephews and nieces; and mother-in-law, Margaret Streeter of Beloit, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Edna Saunders and 2 sisters, Kathy Thompson and Ruth Meadema. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI, Rev. Todd Arneson officiating, with Military Rites will be accorded by the State of Wisconsin Honor Guard. Visitation from 11 - 1 PM Saturday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals. Memorials appreciated.
