Marcella L. Barbee, age 87, of Rice Lake, WI passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at the Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.
She was born April 12, 1923 to Frank and Obeline (Derousseau) Secore in Rice Lake. Marcella attended Pleasant Valley School and graduated from the Rice Lake High School in 1942 and in 1959 she married James Barbee. She was employed at Grouchy’s, Herberger’s and Wright Products until her retirement. Marcella was a gifted seamstress, loved to crochet, bowl and took great enjoyment in daily cribbage matches with her husband which she usually won. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Marcella Barbee is survived by her husband, James Barbee of Rice Lake, WI; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy & Ed Werts and Janell & Jim Poppe all of Rice Lake, WI; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn & Marjorie Peterson of Rice Lake, WI, Daniel Peterson & Pat of Birchwood, WI, Bruce & Laurie Peterson of Haugen, WI and Dennis & Brenda Peterson of Rice Lake, WI; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Leona Currier of Silver Bay, MN; a brother, Maurice Secore of Rice Lake, WI and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Obeline Secore; 3 sisters and a brother.
A Memorial Mass Service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, 13, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Father James Powers officiating, with interment in the Orchard Beach Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 PM Monday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals and for 1 hour prior to the service at the Church. There will be a Wake Service at 7 PM Monday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
