GUTH, Alvin O.
(January 4, 1917 - April 26, 2012)
Alvin O. Guth, age 95, of Rice Lake, WI, died Thursday, April 26 at his residence, Our House Senior Living.

He was born January 4th, 1917 in Dorchester, WI to Edwin and Louise (Meyer) Guth.

Alvin attended Dorchester High School. He worked for Meyer Pulp Wood in Park Falls in his youth, and farmed the family farm in Mayville Township west of Dorchester, WI. Alvin married Frances (Sauer) on June 4, 1946. They resided on the farm for 25 years before moving to their home on Lake Montanis in Rice Lake in 1971. Alvin was a member of the Cloverleaf Cooperative and the National Farmers Organization. He also served as Clerk on the Hill Top School Board for several years, and later on the Dor-Abby School Board for about 3 years. Alvin was also an electrician and mason in addition to farmer, and worked at Wright Products in Rice Lake prior to retirement in 1982.
He loved the outdoors including fishing, hunting and gardening. He was an avid craftsman enjoying woodworking, wood carving, and stained-glass as hobbies.

Alvin Guth is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Robert Adair of Englishtown, NJ and Karen & William Reddin of Fox Point, WI; a son, Lloyd Guth and Sharon Gardner of San Diego, CA; three grandchildren Michael and Mackenzie Reddin and Kristine Adair; one sister Verna Gumz of Marshfield, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Louise (Meyer) Guth; and his beloved wife for 64 years, Frances (Sauer) Guth.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie, WI with Fr. David Oberts officiating.
Visitation will occur prior to the church service on Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
A joint burial of Alvin’s and Frances’ cremains will occur at a later date, to be determined, at the Holy Rosary Cemetery located east of Medford, WI.
